Fossils

Fang Zhongjie (1996) in the lower part of the formation had discovered Ostracoda fossils represented by the Whipplella-Darwinula assemblage; and Bivalves represented by the Palaeanodonda posepnyi, P. faba, etc., belonging to the Yangsingian Series. The top part of the formation yields such Bivalves seen very often in the Shajingzi Fm as Palaeomutella subparallela, Palaeanodonta subcastor, etc.; Spore-pollen fossils represented by the Apiculatisporis-Verrucosisporites assemblage and the Lueckisporites-Protohaploxypinus assemblage, with the former Spore-pollen assemblage being seen in the Shajingzi Fm, and with the latter Spore-pollen assemblage belonging already to the Lopingian Epoch. In the Celeheqik area, the formation is 851-m thick, yielding Plant fossils (phytolites) such as Compsopteris wongi, Taeniopteris multinervis, Cordaites principalis, etc., and representing lake-facies deposits.
